Frank The Plucker now over! But what a ride it was!

As you may or may not know Frank The Plucker...the theatrical Eggs-travaganza of 2006 is now over after 4 very successful shows!

The show was performed to year 7,8 and 9 of Flinders College Tyabb Campus and then on Friday the 13th of October- Worl Egg Day- was performed to a public audience consisting of family, friends and teachers of the students. All shows went really well with only a few glitches but the amazing cast had outstanding performances for each show...2nd, 3rd and 4th show syndrome never setting in!

The Public Performance show ended on a high with a standing ovation (Ok we kind of stole one because we made everybody stand up and do the chicken dance...nut still!) The audience really loved the show and we had great feedback...including comments that we should take FTP further and put it on publicly!

The Friday night performance was filmed and has been made as a DVD so if you are interested in preserving a piece of Frank The Plucker history you can buy your copy for $5 from me!

If you still read this blog and you came to see the show leave a comment about what you thought about it...we'd love to know!

Also if you happen to have any photos of the performances if you could give them to me that would be great!

Finally thank you to everyone's support over the last year or so as we have come together to put this show on. Without you the show would never have taken form and Frank would never have made it to stage. All us cast and crew had a fantastic time performing and thank you for coming and watching!

Sean on behalf of the Frank The Plucker cast and Crew!

8 Weeks To Go! So what's been happening?

It's been awhile since we had a blog post so I thought I'd tack one on now to update anyone who is left that might be interested in reading!

Frank The Plucker is now 8 weeks off its premiere performance!

So what have we been up to?
Well rehearsals have been happening for many weeks now every Thursday night, with great success! The Cast of FTP is one bunch of good eggs and every rehearsal is always filled to the brim with laughs! The enthusiasm and hilarity of these incredibly talented 13-18 year olds is amazing, the future of FCCC productions will be fantastic if these guys keep up the good work!

Set construction has begun with the old 'Guys and Dolls' and 'Annie' door being remade into part of the factory! Other designs are also coming to life!

Costume is also busily underway fitting out all the actors with fabulous costumes! Repairs and bleaching is the main piece of work for the costume department at the moment!

Lighting and sound departments are slowly coming together and will begin on rigging the lights and sound very soon!

The small drama stage is set to be extended by about 8 feet...don't ask how big that is in metres! Hopefully it will be ready by the end of term!

Show dates are slowly being organised with shows to be confirmed on Thursday the 12th of October and Friday the 13th of October! Two shows will be held on each of these days. On Friday night there will be a public performance for anyone wishing to watch the show!

As you can see it is all happening for Frank The Plucker and did I forget to tell you so far we have no budget! It's a very exciting time with a mere 8 weeks left before we open...but we'll be ready! And we're going to show you all just how fantastic this show has become!

So what can you do to help?
    • Send the stars some Fan Mail at www.franktheplucker.proboards51.com public support is what the cast really need to show that you're all behind them!
    • If you have free periods on Thursdays we can really use a hand with set, lighting etc so ask me what we're doing this week in the frees and we'll get you to help out!

Thank you all for your support over the last...well this whole year! Without you it wouldn't be worth it! Same with all those that ridicule the play...without you we wouldn't be motivated enough to keep going every week!

Hope to see you helping out...or in the audience!

    Sean

Oh and here is a nice little secret about the play!

FTP does not end with any chickens in shell suits!

Auditions are now OVER! Thanks to all who came!

Yes that's right we've had three audition sessions now for Frank The Plucker and the people who have come and auditioned have all been incredibly brave and we're glad they came and auditioned, talent was high!

So what comes next? Now we begin the casting process and looking at who would be best for who! With 23 auditionees our task should be very interesting and we hope we can get the best cast possible in the end.

So what can you do while you wait to find out?
Well 'The Da Franky Code' competition has been released on the FTP Fan Forum and you can choose which side you'd like to be on...good or evil! The winning side will get a box of chocolates to share! You have to be a registered member to play though so become a FTP Fan today!

    Don't like 'cracking' codes?
Well why not come and see us about being part of the backstage crew! Backstage isn't just lighting or sound either! We need people to work on the set, make up, costume, front of house, tickets, programs, promotions, and lots more! It's a hard task putting on a play and the crew make the task possible so come and give us a hand!

    BE KIND AND COMMENT CAMPAIGN

    Hey everyone!

This is unrelated to FTP! Remember the days when blogging was fantastic and it was always great to read what other had to say about the world! The days when comedy could be found around the corner with Walter and York nd that crazy bunch of animals (Sad Panda etc) When Josh would review CD's and song lyrics, when Sarah would..well to what ever her mind thought of, where Belinda would tell us loads of cool stuff under random titles and Caroline would always have the latest pictures to look at?

Whatever happened to those days...when the comments section of your blog was filled with comments, like Josh and all his gf's!

let's face it, we all wrote it so others would read it and give us feedback...whatever happened to that.

So here's an iniative, a challenge I want you all to achieve! If you own a blog track back this comment to your blog using the 'blog it' button below, then make your friends happy, go and read and comment on everyone's spaces! Give them your support, show them that you care...or don't! Post something funny, or something serious, cooment that you're in love with the blog owner or that you'd rather be just friends!

it's doesn't matter what you comment on, just let's all go out and say something nice on other peoples blogs, get those comments lists up and running so that we can have all those fun times again!

Sad Panda series 3 is out did you even know that?
Sean gives all the latest FTP updates on all meeting and weird events!
    Caroline still posts pictures!
Go out there and discover the world of blogging again!

    Let's start commenting again!

So why not begin your 'Be Kind and Comment' joruney and comment right here on this space right now!

Results of Audition Day 1 and 2

As many of you know Thursday and Friday this week were the first two audition days for Frank The Plucker!

    So how were they?
Thursday was great, we had a lot of people come through (about 13 in all) and a lot more nerves! However we were all glad to see people fighting off those nerves and giving the auditions their best shot!

At the current rate of auditionees everyone that auditioned will be able to be in the show! (Well those that are available Tuesday or Thursday night that is!)

Yes we also saw a lot of great performers...but...hmmph most are unavailable after school!

    So that was day 1!

Day 2 was MUCH slower....I think we only got through 5 or 6 people but we did have some breakthroughs...we did two character auditions for the roles of Frank and Manager Sam and we were very impressed.

    So what's next?
Well next Thursday there is another audition day for all those that couldn't make the first two (especially year 8's and anyone who handed in an expression of interest form...believe me you still have a might good chance of getting in the show if you come on down next Thursday!)

Then comes casting which will be a fun process, this may also result in call backs! Hopefully by the end of term the cast list will be up on the Drama Board!

Note: We need more senior students!!!! If you are a senior student please come and audition next Thursday lunchtime or come and see me and I'll audition you at another lunchtime!

HURRY HURRY! DON'T MISS YOUR CHANCE TO BE PART OF THIS YEARS THEATRICAL EGGS-TRAVAGANZA!!!

Thank you to all those who came and auditioned, thanks to all those who will be coming down to audition and thanks to all that are working behind the scenes to get this show on the road!

    Your support is greatly appreciated!
    Sean, Laura, Katherine

PS: Alison found the bogan shirts...they will hopefully make an appearance in FTP!

    Audition Reminder!

    Hey everyone!

Just a note on FTP Auditions!
Auditions are on Thursday the 25th of May and Friday the 26th of May...that's this week!

Year 11 and 12's if you are able to audition in periods 5&6 on Thursday afternoon that would be excellent, be there at the start of period 5 at the end of lunch! If not that's ok too, show up on which ever day suits you best, the Thursday or the Friday!

Year 7 and 8's wishing to audition Thursday is the better day for us, I know year 8's are on camp, we will have the following Thursday for year 8 auditions for those who can't make it due to camp.

9's and 10's come down on Friday to Auditions that's best for us!

If you cannot make it to the day we'd like you to that's ok! Come on the day that you are free.

Please Note that if we are heavily overcrowded with auditionees we will flow on to the next week for auditions.

Thanks for reading this message, we hope to see you at the Auditions!

    The FTP team!

PS: Sean is going to be volunteering at Echuca again! YAY

A Get Well Message For Cath!

As you may have noticed Cath hasn't been at school lately because she has been a bit sick!

Well this message is for Cath to say get well soon because I miss you at school, and I'm sure others miss your bright cheery attitude as well.

School's so lonely without Cath and her beaming smile and I miss meeting up with her briefly in between periods and hanging out at recess and lunch with her!

I hope you get much better very soon Cath! You mean so much to me and I really hope you're not too sick. Make sure you get lots of rest and drink lots of fluids!

I love you Cath, so much, get very well very soon!

    Mwa

    Love Sean
(And I'm sure all the others love you too, just not half as much as me )

The Frank The Plucker Information Session!

As many of you would know today was the Frank The Plucker Information Session and may I say thank you to everyone who came along and checked it out!

I can clearly say the meeting was a success. I was expecting maybe five people to show up, mostly friends too, and have tumble weed roll across the floor like in Western Films. I was wrong. There was probably a turn out of 40-50 people which was great!

Out of those 40-50 people we got 35 Expressions of Interest towards both cast and crew positions which is great. It was also excellent to have our director Laura there along with the other key members of the FTP Crew, Katherine, Callum, Alison, Malcom, Matt, Caroline, Josh, and Mr Drape, unfortunately due to illness our Set Design leader Cath couldn't be there today but she sent her support!

If you didn't get to fill out a form today and you feel like you should have remember forms can be filled out online (yes we have online application!) at www.franktheplucker.proboards51.com and find the form from there! (PS You must be a registered member!)

    So what's next?
Auditions, now that people have filled out the forms we will be getting them all into the hall to audition.

As such on Thursday 25th May at Lunchtime we will be auditioning years 7,8 and anyone who can't make it on Friday. during periods 5&6 we would like to audition those year 11 and 12 students who have frees.

On Friday 26th May at Lunchtime we will be auditioning years 9,10 along with anyone who couldn't attend Thursdays audition and anyone else who shows up on the day and fills out a form.

Meetings are also being set up between Mr Toovey and Mrs Woods.

So that's where FTP is going from here! Thanks to all those that came and supported the FTP team today, it was great to actually have a crowd and we all hope to see you at auditions.

    Thanks again!
    Sean and the FTP Team

    The very first FTP poster!

Tomorrow the very first FTP Poster will be put up on the Drama noticeboard so you can all go and see it in it's glory, however if for some weird reason you can't make it to the hall here is the poster for you to look at!

It has the dates and times for the information session and auditions on it and features McFlu the Chicken!

Hope to see you all at the information session if not the auditions. People that will need to be at the info session are Katherine Walters, Callum, Alison, Cath and if you're part of the web team you can show up too if you want!

    Thanks for your support!
    Sean
    (It's getting closer!)

    Information Session and Auditions!

Hey everyone, my meeting with director Laura was moved forward to this morning and we got a lot covered!
The main things that will relate to you are the following!

On May 18th there will be an Information Session in the Hall at lunchtime so if you are interested in playing a character or a part backstage today is the day to show yourself. The FTP team will also be introduced and a brief synopsis of the show will be read out! Expressions of interest forms will be availble to fill out! (Remember these can be found on the forum and can be filled out there too.)

The auditions will be held on May the 25th and 26th at lunchtime in the hall. Your expressions of interest forms will come in handy here. Those that have handed them in will be auditioned in the order we recieved them, if you did not get to fill one out they will be available to fill out on the day but you will be at the end of the auditioning queue. You will be required to act, sing and maybe dance for the audition. You do not need to bring your own music. If we have an overwhelming amount of applicants to go through we will flow on to the next week for more auditions. If you are unable to make the audition dates please notify Sean, Katherine Walters or Mr Drape and we will organise a time for you.

The cast list will hopefully be posted on Tuesday the 13th of June and if call backs are required they will most likely happen this week. Term 3 rehearsals will begin and the show will most likely be in week 2 or 3 of Term 4!

Stay tuned to the Drama notice board, the classroom daily notices, this blog and the calendar on the forum for more information about dates and auditions etc.

Hope to see you at the information session and good luck for your auditions!
    Sean and the FTP Team!
    May 10

    Let the search begin!

    Hey everyone!

As many of you would now know Frank The Plucker is going ahead! Yes that's right the show will go on!
So now the search will begin, the search to find 18 or so lucky people to play the characters of Frank's story!
Soon a copy of the latest script will appear in the school library and the drama noticeboard will be all decked out in Frank's colours (Yellow, Red and White) and will contain a bit of information relating to the audition process.

Expressions of interest forms will be created soon and will be available for collection in the hall and from D13 and can be returned to either Mr Drape, Katherine Walters or yours truly (that's Sean for those of you who didn't get that!) Those forms will ask for the following information, (we will have an expressions of interest form to fill out on the forum if you would prefer to express your interest online. Mind you those that do not attend FCCC will be unable to perform in the show! So the details will be:
    Name:
    Class:
Which Character You Are Interested in Playing:
Previous Experiences In The Performing Arts:
Night/s of the week you are avialable for rehearsal:
Lunchtime/s you are available for rehearsal:
Are you interested in being backstage, if yes what areas?:

Of course if you want to be backstage rather than on stage the Which Character section will not apply to you instead put more detail in the backstage section. backstage requests will be passed on to Technical Director Callum Delaney.

So if you would like to express interest online head to www.franktheplucker.proboards51.com and register yourself to gain access to the Expressions of Interest Form. The Form can be found on all the boards in an announcement. Full instructions are on the site.

In other news I will be meeting the new Co-Director Laura on Friday to discuss the show.

So keep your ears and eyes open because FTP is about to take off, an information session about the show is planned and will be held before auditions one lunchtime.

    Thanks for your support!
    Sean

    Just a reminder!

Hey everyone I thought I would give you all some info about FTP on the web!

The Frank The Plucker website is located at http://franktheplucker.tripod.com and has just recently been updated with all the new synopsis. When you take a visit there why not post a comment on the guestbook! We have roughly 250 views now so thanks to all those people who checked out the website! The website also contains more details about the show than any other of the FTP sites so if you need to see the cast list or find out about competetions etc check there!

The Frank The Plucker Fan Forums have gone a bit quiet now since the 26th of March I think but the FTP FF team want to get the fan forum up and running again with lots of new members. Remember as the show is almost about to start casting the boards will be full of conversation with cast, crew and fans all being members of the same forum! To check out the forum go to http://www.franktheplucker.proboards51.com and register today!
Once registered you have access to all the boards, chats and polls which cover everything from Cast news to fan fiction. The general board has a whole lot of things to talk about and every so often there is a competition held on the site!

The Frank The Plucker Blog...which is what you are reading now is updated the most and all posts (so far) come direct from the creators brain! The blog contains up to the minute news about the show and gives you an insight into what is going on in the FTP World. As you are here you obviously know where it can be found! (the adress is for those wondering or wanting to add links http://spaces.msn.com/riverlad)

Frank The Plucker is now on MySpace and can be found at http://www.myspace.com/franktheplucker so if you are a MySpace member why don't you become Frank's Friend! Photos and blog entries will hopefully appear there thanks to Assistant Director Katherine who maintains the MySpace (With occasional help from me).

Of course if you can't remember the official home page adress you can type Frank The Plucker into www.google.com and see that the website is at the top of the list. You will also find Cazza Marrazza's MySpace where there is a blog post about Frank!

So that's where you can find Frank The Plucker on the web. Of course you can contact Frank on franktheplucker@hotmail.com and send him fan mail or ask for news etc!

On behalf of the FTP Web Team I'd like to thank you all for your support towards the FTP project and we hope to see you soon at one of the above websites!

    The new script!

Hey everyone I thought I would give you the synopsis for the new script which I am currently half way through!

Frank is a chicken plucker at a run down dilapidated factory called Happy Chickens. Frank has worked at the factory for all his working life but the current team of pluckers he is working with have issues with balancing their social and working lives. While the pluckers are busy plucking chickens (Well the ones that aren't hung over or too busy talking) the Boss is making plans to improve his factory in time for the C.H.O.O.C.C.A (Cetificate Honouring the Overall Outstanding Chicken Company of Australia) inspectors who will be inspecting the factory in the coming month and announcing 'the best' chicken company in Australia.

The Boss is plagued by nightmares of his childhood where all he wanted was to be the best but was always beaten by a fellow student Johnny Do-Good. These nightmares make the Boss blindly ambitious to try once again to be 'the best' and his following plans to help the factory only hinder the pluckers.

As the pluckers attempt to wake up from a hard night of partying Manager Sam (their manager) announces the Boss's latest plan...to increase the output of the factory 150%. The pile of chickens is enormous and the pluckers cannot cope, and then Frank has his love life to deal with.

The slack work of the pluckers leads the boss to one conclusion- the pluckers have to go. Machines are ordered to replace the pluckers and the curtain comes down on act 1!

How will the pluckers cope with being unemployed?
Will the machines be a good descision for making the factory number one?
Will the factory be the best in Australia?

    We can't spoil that much!

Work Begins On The Re-Vamped Script!

    Okie Dokie!

Well tody I began work on the FTP Re-Vamped script. So far one scene has been completed and it's a whole new start. I do feel like bringing in old scenes though and just tweaking their lines a little, so if you had some favourite lines I'm sure they will still pop up in the script.

Now that I have meaning now I realise Mr Drape was right. You can really narrow down and put focus into your scenes! I didn't know how well I'd be able to do it but the dramatic meaning pops up from the very beginning!

So I might potter at some history and some FTP tonight and give you another update soon!

Thanks for your support and help!

    FTP HQ Update!

Hey everyone and welcome to another set of updates on what's going on in the lives of us here at FTP HQ!

As those of you who are regular readers of the Blog FTP is currently undergoing a big change in the way of Dramtatic meaning. Have I had any ideas what the Dramatic Meaning could be? Yes, kind of! I was thinking possibly 'Juggling A Social Life With Work Life' which is something that even us teenagers know about because of those part time commitments some of us have (and that others want!) So that's one of the thoughts.

I don't know if anyone's seen Cabaret but there's a character in that (Emcee) who is kind of this weird guy who pops up every so often. I'm beginning to think of ways that the boss could be like this because when you are in a factory situation relationships (not intimate ones especially) with the biggest boss of teh place would rarely exsist. There are managers above you and managers above them. So I've been thinking about making the boss kind of 'Godlike' in a way. People rarely see him (or her) but there's little scenes of the funny descisions that the boss makes to make the factory number 1. In this regard to the Boss I thought the Dramatic Meaning could be 'Being Over Ambitious Leads to Downfall!' This way the boss isn't a sterotypical evil character (boss-friendly is a good term!) but the character can still make some bad descisions that effect the charatcers and as such make them think that he/she is evil because they won't know him as much as other people in the work place- or in the shows case the audience.

So there's my spiel about the boss!

Today I might sit down with Cath and cut up a few of those 18 scripts I had made for me. We'll be taking out the best bits so that they can be incorporated into the new script. Because I don't want to scrap the script I have currently, just make it more friendly and not so melodramtic/stereotypical/offensive to people.

And yes there might be a tap number in the curtain call!

Thanks go out this week to my cousins Lachlan and Troy who over lunch gave me some great ideas about putting on the show. And in return for viewing my webpage why don't you music fns check out Lachlan's band Spargo at www.spargomusic.com and request their song on Triple J! Thanks also to Laura who offered time to give me advice on my show whenever I need it...and I will!

Chow For Now....ooo we got Maccas!

PS GIVE ME SOME CHICKEN JOKES!
    April 21

Frank's world is being turned upside down...again!

Hey everyone, I thought I would post some updates as now I have had my latest big meeting with Mr Drape!

Now if you're one of those people that goes 'Oh gosh not another FTP blog post' do me a favor and just check this out, and no I didn't pay for it! Type Frank The Plucker into Google! See what you get!

Ok back to the meeting that I had...
What I basically have to work on now is getting the dramatic meaning of my play (my view of the world that I am expressing in my play) all tied into one big tight thing, not a group of little ones. It has to be resolved and evident in the play.
We also discussed the fact that it bags bosses and the chicken industry too much, especially if my dramatic meaning is not 'That people are putting illegal substances into our foods'.
So we began talking about ways of not making the boss as stereotypical Evil Boss and make him/her much more human. This means booses can come watch the show and not get offended, because if you are going to offend someone you have to offend everyone and I really don't have the time.

So what am I going to do?
    a) Work out the dramatic meaning
    b) Change the bosses plot

So this change I talk of what will it be like?
Basically what I am thinking is that instead of trying to make money and be greedy the Boss instead wants his/her factory to become number one in Australia! (Mention a chicken brand such as Ingham and we could possibly make money!) Then in his/her attempt to become number one he/she can instigate a whole series of crazy and funny events, boosting the comedic values of the play!

In other news John will be scrapped. He's a pointless character and adds only confusion, so bye John, thanks for hanging around, maybe you'll get your own play one day!

And that's the life of a writer for you, constant cutting and editing!

So yeh...make sure you check out google and go 'wow' at seeing the official FTP Homepage in its listings!

That was basically my meeting we did talk a bit about begging borrowing and stealing for financing the play and then said our next big meeting would be about rehearsals!

Now I need your help in these few ways!
    1. Support- give me and the rest of the team all the support you can, if we are going to put this show on we're all going to need support and a helping hand. If you have any ideas feel free to approach any member of the crew and talk to them about your ideas. Of course if it is costume related see Ali not Callum! Join the forum, post comments on the blog, sign the website guestbook spread the word around school...all ways you can help me! You may notice if you search "Frank The Plucker" with the speechmarks on google you will find Cazza's myspace has a blog listing, maybe post your own blog report on FTP! Everything helps!

    2. Give me some chicken jokes! Put them in comments or post them on the forum (I'll get one of the mods to set up a board) and I'll try to put them in the show!

    3. Help workshop! I want to re-write scenes because of the new script ideas and often acting scenes out is the best way to see the script work or write cerrtain scenes, so maybe some of you who like acting could give me a hand there!

Thank you all so much for reading this and giving your support. Thanks to all of you who are helping me to put on this show, it really means so much and I couldn't do it without support!

    Thanks
    Sean

    More script work!

As anyone that has ever worked in the script writing industry knows the script can be changed and re-made so many times and can still be worked on the day before the show.
This morning I began tapping at those laptop keys again. My mission this time to add a lot more humour into the show. After another brief discussion with Mr Drape it was decided that the go would be a melodramatic comedy. (In the current state the play is almost a tragedy...but a comic one  but this is because writing would ultimately depend on what audience would see the show and which strings I could pull and not pull. For instance an adult audience is more interested in a filling story where as kids just want jokes and stuff to laugh at!)

So what people have been reading lately is the basic story of Frank The Plucker which was kind of like a crossroad saying 'Which road would you like to choose?' Comedy or Tragedy!

    Comedy was the answer.

So script writing continues on a more comedic show and for those that love melodrama it is definately a melodramatic show (That means for you non-dramatic people there is a really evident good guy and a really evident bad guy...or girl for the benefit of Emma W.)

Yes Jarrod I know you have issues with the script () that's nothing new. Yes I am  making the Boss more sarcastic and the show will not end with the corny chicken joke! (I'm not getting rid of the corny chicken joke either though!) INSERT SURPRISE HERE!

So that's my latest thoughts and writings on FTP! I've still got about 23 versions of script to write so stay tuned lol!
